Objectives
Abstract SiFi is a short project to assess the technical and commercial feasibility of a new approach to increasing the conversion efficiency of photovoltaic modules by splitting high energy visible photons into 2 infra-red photons before they are absorbed in the module. The photon splitting process is known as "singlet fission". By increasing the photon flux absorbed, greater power can be generated by a photovoltaic module.SiFi is a short project to assess the technical and commercial feasibility of a new approach to increasing the conversion efficiency of photovoltaic modules by splitting high energy visible photons into 2 infra-red photons before they are absorbed in the module.
